What's Happening in School Today? MADD Presentation - SMASHED

Today grade 7 and 8 GW students had the chance to watch a movie presented by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) called SMASHED.

The moving started with a fictional account of the dangers of impaired driving and ended with real testimonials from people who have been negatively affected by people who choose to drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

This was a very emotionally charged presentation and some students may have become upset due to it's content. This is a topic we chose to present to our students because in the next few years many of our students will be put in situations where they will have hard decisions to make. Talk to your child about the dangers of driving under the influence, going into vehicles with people they know may be driving under the influence, and how this presentation made them feel

At times it was a hard presentation to watch but a very important thing to watch. It's time to begin to having this conversation with young people and give them strategies to make good choices.
