What Happened Today at School? from @edrethink

Have you ever tried to speak to your child about their day at school?

Have you ever asked the question? 'What did you do today?'

Have you ever got back the response? 'Nothin'...' It happens, to all of us I think.

Well, we often do things at school, usually every day ;)

Asking questions questions to engage your child in a conversation about their day will help them reflect on their day. This is an important step in the learning process. You may find that not a lot of homework is sent home these days (that's a whole different conversation - and a good one). Just the act of having your child reflect on their day in a meaningful manner will help.

Here is a great read called 'Twelve Alternatives to "How Was Your Day?" from Education Rethink. It has some great suggestions to start conversations with your child about their day at school.
