What's Happening in School Today (Yesterday)? Aboriginal Sports at Bourkevale CC

Today at GWMS a number of students from grade 6-8 had the opportunity to walk to Bourkevale Community Club down the road from school to participate in a variety of cultural activities.

Students are learning traditional games being facilitated by Blair Robillard (who is awesome by the way).

This game the group tries to protect the 'baby' from the 'Windio kan' who is at the end of the line. This is a favourite Ojibway game and one of the few where boys and girls play together.

All year long GWMS runs events to celebrate our First Nations students and their cultures

I like learning about other cultures and getting out of class
-Liam

I know quite a bit about my culture and the games. I still feel that I'm learning, well your always learning. Also laughing is healing, always remember that. -Delainey

So much learning, laughing and healing today at GWMS. So fun to watch!
