First Day of School!

I hope everyone had a great summer and also had a chance to meet their teacher and walk around the school the past couple of days. GWMS has been bustling with families the last two days! A big welcome back to everyone! The first day of school is Friday, September 6, 2013. The day starts at 8:30 AM and will include grade level meetings, school tours, introductions of staff and many other things to ensure everyone feels welcome!

There are new traffic controls at the corner of Portage and Ferry that were installed over the summer. This should help everyone stay safe at this extremely busy intersection. Even with the new countdown timer cross walk and the no right turn on to Ferry (between 7 AM and 5:30 PM) it is still important that everyone be aware of the traffic. Keep yourself safe!! May eye contact with the drivers of the cars as you cross the road. It is important that you make sure are seen by drivers!

Ferry Road will be a busy road once again this year. There will be some heavy trucks travelling to bring dirt, sod and supplies for the new track that is being built behind our school. The construction company has been asked to limit travel during times when students are arriving and leaving GWMS. The back field where the track is being installed will be out of bounds until the track construction is complete.

Because we have moved our Art room to room 9 there is no need for middle school students to go into the high school. There is a major construction project taking place in the hallway between the schools. It is important that students stay out of this hallway to keep safe!

Let's have a great and safe start to the school year! Please contact the office if you have any questions.
