Personal Devices

Some information has come my attention that a few of our students are using their own personal devices in a manner that is inappropriate for use at school. I believe this is a small minority of students. Until the end of March 24, 2016 students will be asked to leave their personal devices (personal cell phones, iPads, iPods, etc) in their locker throughout the day. They are permitted to take these devices outside to use them before school, at lunch, and after school.

If students are using personal devices during the next three days, staff have been instructed to ask students to put their device in their locker. Students will get two warnings and then be referred to the office. If referred to the office, parents will be called to solicit support. If a student refuses to respond appropriately to staff requests parents will be involved.

Parents please ensure you are checking your child's personal device on a regular basis to see what apps they are using, what their web browsing history is and with whom they are communicating.

Digital citizenship is an important skill for everyone. We will do our best to make sure we are responding appropriately to students who may be using their personal device in a manner that is against our school code of conduct. If parents need to get a hold of their child please call the school office at 204-888-4898.

If parents have any questions or need help accessing information on your child's personal device please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Mead at 204-888-4898 or 204-223-5622.

Sincerely,

Mr. Mead
