GWMS Hockey Academy

Everyday GWMS has students who attend our Hockey Academy which is taught by Mr. Sobkowicz and Mr. Baydock. GW has two groups that attend on alternating days. We have a grade 6 group that is affiliated with the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation and a grade 7/8 combined group. 

Hockey Academy students take their Phys Ed classes in this program. They take the bus to the Winnipeg Jets Iceplex to skate and train from their Hockey Canada certified coaches/teachers. 

The engagement levels for the students in this program is top notch. Students practice hockey skills, increase their physical fitness, and work on the I team work skills in a safe and fun environment. Some of the students involved are highly motivated hockey players on elite teams while others just love the game and want to learn more about it. 

It's great to watch these students be so engaged while working hard in something they love doing.
