Information for Band Parents

Dear Band Parents May 29, 2013

Spring Concert - June 11th:
Our Spring Concert is only 13 days away! We are looking forward to showcasing the
Concert Bands, Jazz Bands and Choirs from George Waters Middle School and St.
James Collegiate at our Spring Concert Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the
George Waters gymnasium. Students are required to attend this concert and will need
to be at the school dressed in their Band uniform for 6:30 p.m.

The selections each Band will be playing include:

Gr. 6: Frere Jacques, Banana Boat Song, Indigo Rock

Gr. 7-8: Chorale in Eb, Pirates of the Caribbean, Soldiers Procession & Sword Dance.
Junior Jazz: A Blues To Grow On

Please ensure your child is practicing at home so he/she has the confidence and
endurance to play well at the concert. Thanks for your support.

Instrument Rental Return:
Students who have larger instruments at home need to bring them back to the school in
time for the concert on June 11th. Students renting the smaller instruments will need to
return them at this time as well. Each June, these instruments are cleaned and serviced
to ensure they are ready for students next year.

Instrument Rental Fees:
Thank you to everyone who has submitted his/her instrument rental fee already this
year. Band instruments rented from the school are $120 for the year or $12 per month.
For families who have not yet taken care of this, please send cash or a cheque made
out to the school for the appropriate amount. Thank you.
Summer Band Camp July 29th-August 2nd:

The Manitoba Band Association is again holding a summer Band Camp nearby at
Golden Gate Middle School. This camp is an exciting opportunity for your child to gain
confidence on his/her instrument, meet new friends, and get in playing shape for the
2013-14 school year. This camp runs from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and
wraps up with a performance Friday evening showcasing what has been learned during
the week. Please go to the Band Website for more information.

Sincerely,
Mr. Johnson, Band Director
