All students just finished their JAWSS class today. JAWSS stands for Joint Activities with Staff and Students.  The groups are multi-age and have at most 14 students in each group. JAWSS groups are divided into house groups: Makos, Hammerheads, Sharks, and Bulls. Once a month each house gets together to have fun in friendly competition in Gym Blasts.

The students stay with their advisor for the 3 years while at George Waters MS. JAWSS is scheduled  on selected Wednesday afternoons throughout the year. Students work on their Personal Comprehensive Portfolio and Character Education during JAWSS time. The portfolio consists of the following areas: Outstanding Achievement, Citizenship, and Most Improved Work.  In June of their grade 8 year, students students receive their bound portfolio of their three years of work at a Portfolio Celebration.

The main goal of JAWSS is to give each student a strong connection to at least ONE adult in the building. Strong relationships are building!
